Taking the Kids from Kijiji to see some wildlife!

As part of our community outreach, SCC Kenya supports Kijiji school for children aged between 5 - 8. We decided as a team that an important part of any Kenyan's education is understanding our wildlife and the importance of the protection of wildlife for the future sustainability of this country - especially as tourism is one of our major contributors to the GDP.

So last Friday, we collected the children from their school in the little slum behind our office. All were beautifully turned out in clean and tidy uniform, and ready for a day of surprises! The bus drove first to the Giraffe Centre, where the children had the chance to feed giraffe by hand!! They were absolutely thrilled and enthralled by the whole experience, the long sticky tongue of the giraffe, it's large eyes and long neck, and it's colourings.

From the Giraffe Centre it was time to go to Nairobi National Park, where first, the children went to the Animal Orphanage, and then enjoyed a delicious lunch at the cafe.

We are delighted to be in a position where we can help this school and the children with their education, and believe this was a great way of showing them all about wildlife at a young age.
