A post safari break

You can't imagine my delight when I was invited to join JJ Henderson at the coast for a few days to check out the Beach House they are building... now getting close to completion and excitingly open for reservations from 1st August 2012!

JJ was already at the coast, working hard with Rejie and Irwie to keep construction going at a good pace, and I flew down on Air Kenya to join her for a few days - mid week - such a treat. On landing at Malindi Airstrip on a cool coastal day, Antholom the driver collected me and we drove along the coastal road that is lined with tropical forest and smells gloriously of salt and sea. The drive didn't take long - maybe an hour - and then we wound our way onto Bofa Beach and through the very nice entrance of Beach House. The drive is sandy, and lined with cocounut palms, and despite the construction, the first thing I noticed was how lush the gardens are. Gorgeous! We spent the day at the cottage, enjoying the pool and sunshine and walking around the site with Rejie and Irwie.

The next day, we drove out to Vipingo Ridge and had a look at Rejie and Irwie's house there, and had a cup of tea at the Club House overlooking the amazing Golf Course. Dusk_over_green.jpgThis is a world class golf course, and offers amazing views of the ocean whilst playing as well!

There is actually a ton of stuff to do in Kilifi - I went to the Arabuko Sokoke forest when I was a child and I remember it being totally amazing. It's leafy and thick, tropical and full of amazing birdlife.
