Ben Simpson

Ben arrived in Kenya from Hong Kong aged 21 and has over 6,500 flying hours in fixed and rotor wing aircraft. Most of his experience has been gained flying around East Africa for the past 14 years. He has developed an intimate knowledge of the region from his experiences in Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania, Somalia, Ethiopia, Uganda and The Congo. He was one of Tropic Air’s founding fixed-wing pilots and was instrumental in establishing the company’s helicopter division.

Much of Ben’s work outside of tourism involves flying cameras for natural history documentaries, including the BBC’s award-wining ‘Life’ series. In his spare time, Ben enjoys exploring Kenya’s northern districts on his motorbike and much of what he offers on heli trips stems from his two wheel adventures in the wilderness.

Ben has excellent knowledge of his aircraft and is backed up by the support and experience of Tropic Air. He is one of few pilots in Kenya capable of delivering a true wilderness experience in complete safety.
