EXPERIENCE RICHARD'S CAMP...

The Masai Mara is a world renowned wildlife destination, and Richard's Camp offers an intimate tented camp experience, where traditional African hospitality meets understated luxury. Set amongst a grove of enormous African olive trees, Richard's Camp overlooks the open plains so characteristic of the Mara, and many species of wildlife visit camp regularly. Days can be as relaxed or exciting as you wish. Our knowledgeable and engaging guides lead bush walks as well as game drives, take you to the local Masai homesteads or out to the plains for a sundowner. In the evenings, you might dine in the bush alongside the hippo pools and then head back to camp on a night game drive with the chance to spot the elusive zorilla, honey badger or genet cat. We also recommend the most spectacular way to see the Mara - on a scenic flight with Richard, which involves landing on the Soit Oloolol Escarpment where you can see the Mara in its full glory stretching to Tanzania. Having lived in the Mara since he was a child, Richard's knowledge and experience is incomparable. Sunrise balloon rides are another way to see the earth (and animals) from the air.

ACCOMMODATION

With just 8 tents, Richard's Camp is both secluded and intimate, with spacious tents furnished in comfortable safari style. Each tent has 24 hour solar lighting and en-suite bathrooms with flushing loos and hot safari showers. An open Victorian bath surrounded by flickering candles and the sounds of the bush is the perfect indulgence after a day on game drives. After this, cocktails around the open camp fire precede a delicious three course meal under a canopy of stars. The camp also has 2 guide tents.
