Hogmead open and looking great!
Greatly anticipated, Hogmead is now open and looking fantastic - I was round there for sundowners on Tuesday and as the burning ball of sun disappeared over the curvaceous tops of the Ngong Hills, Benson appeared with deliciously tempting cocktails and Jay entertained us with stories of his former escapades. The verandah is lovely and wide, and has a couple of different places to sit back and enjoy the view as well as the beautiful big bar with bar stools. In fact, it has been so hot that in the couple of hours before sunset, it's great to sit inside in Hogmead's light and airy sitting room - again, it has a few different places to sit so perfect for different groups. Jay showed us around the rooms - Mara, Meru, Mt Kenya and Lamu are the four upstairs rooms that are ready at this stage...

Mara is at the front of the house, on the left hand side. Decorated with brown hues and earthy tones, this room is quite grand! It has it's own verandah and a large ensuite bathroom with shower, bath and double sink. The views from this room and the Meru room are just spectacular - you wouldn't actually think you were in Nairobi as the vista is pure bush!
Meru is the other room at the front of the house - slightly smaller than the Mara room but a deliciously pink and brown colour scheme makes this a really enticing room, and I think one of my favourites. Again, it has lovely views into the bush and a great shower and bath in the bathroom.
Lamu is our blue and white room, which is behind the Meru room - it is a slightly smaller room as well, but intimate and cosy, and has such a great colour scheme. The bathroom is very funky, with a great silver fish feature on the wall as well as the rain shower.

And finally...
The Mt Kenya room is behind the Mara room - with three great paintings by Sophie Walberoff of Mt Kenya and beautiful green and red shades in the bedroom. The bathroom has one of the most beautiful fabric blinds I've seen!
But ... I do think the showers at Hogmead should be celebrated! The shower heads are huge, and the shower area is enormous!
