Manda Bay

EXPERIENCE MANDA BAY...
Manda Bay is a small boutique lodge located on the north western tip of Manda Island, one of the many unspoiled, idyllic islands of the Lamu archipelago. An exclusive resort, Manda Bay offers barefoot luxury and informal pampering.
All the buildings are constructed with local materials in traditional coastal style, with palm thatch roofs and woven matting covering the floors. The cottages overlook the Indian Ocean and are carefully sited to catch the sea breeze. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with double or twin beds, large flowing mosquito nets, private verandahs, overhead fans and a small fridge to keep your drinks cool. A large lounge and bar area on the waterfront, with breezes flowing through, is the ideal retreat in the heat of the afternoon. Darts, table tennis and a pool table in the games room offer alternative entertainment, and the games room encompasses a swimming pool overlooking the creek. There is an air conditioned boutique and a quiet upstairs sitting room. Manda Bay creates delicious gourmet cuisine, using the freshest ingredients possible including a large variety of hand-selected seafood.
Surrounded by miles of soft yellow sand and acres of wildlife filled bush behind the lodge, Manda Bay combines a beach and bush experience with camp fires, star gazing, walks, a multitude of different water sports and peaceful tranquility for those who wish to simply unwind. Cruise on Utamaduni, our 60 ft traditional sailing dhow. Scenic flights over the Tana Delta and the Dodori National Reserve to see the abundant wildlife. Cultural visits to the 9th century Takwa Ruins, scattered amongst giant Baobab trees, or to Lamu – a World Heritage Site. Spectacular bird-watching by boat. Wildlife spotting in the bush behind the lodge. Fly-fishing or conventional deep-sea fishing charters on our two fully equipped deep sea fishing boats. Cheza (33ft) and Shakina (38 ft catamaran). Creek or inshore fishing in skiffs. Water-sports include windsurfing, water-skiing, wake-boarding, air chair, banana boating, tubing, laser sailing, snorkelling and kayaking. Massages, manicures and pedicures. Sundowners and stargazing on the sand dunes.
